National Association of Marine Surveyors

The National Association of Marine Surveyors (NAMS) is an American-based non-profit body that aims to advance the marine surveyor by certifying its top surveyors and by providing them lifelong opportunities to enhance knowledge through ongoing professional education. They act as a standard-bearing organization in that their members are considered to be the crème de la crème of the profession; they are considered both in and out of the industry to be experts.

Primarily, they approach their aim by awarding top marine surveyors, those who complete a rigorous induction process, with the title of Certified Marine Surveyor (NAMS-CMS). But they also provide lifelong continuing education through annual and semi-annual meetings and workshops held in some of the world’s biggest seaports and maritime hubs. Finally, they engage in educational efforts whose scope extends beyond their membership into the industry at-large.

Famous quotes containing the words national, association and/or marine:

A national debt, if it is not excessive, will be to us a national blessing.
    Alexander Hamilton (1757–1804)

A good marriage ... is a sweet association in life: full of constancy, trust, and an infinite number of useful and solid services and mutual obligations.
    Michel de Montaigne (1533–1592)

People run away from the name subsidy. It is a subsidy. I am not afraid to call it so. It is paid for the purpose of giving a merchant marine to the whole country so that the trade of the whole country will be benefitted thereby, and the men running the ships will of course make a reasonable profit.... Unless we have a merchant marine, our navy if called upon for offensive or defensive work is going to be most defective.
    William Howard Taft (1857–1930)
