Nabatieh Refugee Camp

Nabatieh (Arabic: نبطية‎) was a Palestinian refugee camp in southern Lebanon, most of the population was moved to Ein el-Helweh.

In May and June 1974, the Israeli Air Force bombed the camp and much of the camp was turned to rubble and its population dispersed.

Famous quotes containing the words refugee and/or camp:

The refugee uncertain at the door
You make at home; deftly you steady
The drunk clambering on his undulant floor.
    John Frederick Nims (b. 1913)

We could not well camp higher, for want of fuel; and the trees here seemed so evergreen and sappy, that we almost doubted if they would acknowledge the influence of fire; but fire prevailed at last, and blazed here, too, like a good citizen of the world.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
