Museum For The Macedonian Struggle (Thessaloniki) - Research Center For Macedonian History and Documentation

Research Center For Macedonian History and Documentation

In 1988 the museum founded the Research Center for Macedonian History and Documentation (KEMIT) to promote the historical study of Macedonia and of the Macedonian Question in particular. This facility, which houses a specialized library, digitized resources and extensive archival material (Greek and international; public and private), is used by both scholars and students.

KEMIT’s archival material dates between 1770 to 1912. Also kept at KEMIT is the photographic archive that contains some 4,000 photographs of the people, cities, towns and villages of Macedonia in the 19th and 20th century.

Famous quotes containing the words research, center and/or history:

The working woman may be quick to see any problems with children as her fault because she isn’t as available to them. However, the fact that she is employed is rarely central to the conflict. And overall, studies show, being employed doesn’t have negative effects on children; carefully done research consistently makes this clear.
    Grace Baruch (20th century)

There is nothing more natural than to consider everything as starting from oneself, chosen as the center of the world; one finds oneself thus capable of condemning the world without even wanting to hear its deceitful chatter.
    Guy Debord (b. 1931)

The history of the past is but one long struggle upward to equality.
    Elizabeth Cady Stanton (1815–1902)
