Move Closer To Your World

Move Closer to Your World is a television news music package composed by jingle writer Al Ham under his Mayoham Music label. In the 1970s it was considered an anthem for local television news, and is considered the anthem of WPVI-TV in Philadelphia for its Action News programs to the current day. An original long version was sung by The Hillside Singers, and a short clip of that vocal version is used by WPVI as part of their closing theme song when extra fill-in time is required. Once a common theme across the United States (especially among other stations using the Action News format), as of 2012 only three U.S. stations (WPVI, WKBW-TV in Buffalo, New York, and WNEP in Scranton, Pennsylvania) currently use the theme.

Famous quotes containing the words move, closer and/or world:

[Sympathy] is easy to get, and it is not binding. “You have my sympathy”, and inside we say, “and now let us move on to something else.”
    Albert Camus (1913–1960)

The finest works of art are those in which there is the least matter. The closer expression comes to thought, the more the word clings to the idea and disappears, the more beautiful the work of art.
    Gustave Flaubert (1821–1880)

Alvina felt herself swept ... into a dusky region where men had dark faces and translucent yellow eyes, where all speech was foreign, and life was not her life. It was as if she had fallen from her own world on to another, darker star, where meanings were all changed.
