- Rob McClanahan, class of 1976; won an Olympic gold medal as part of the Miracle on Ice U.S. hockey team in the 1980 Winter Olympics. In the final "Gold Medal Game" against Finland, Rob McClanahan scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal. Played 224 games in the NHL for the Buffalo Sabres, Hartford Whalers, and New York Rangers.
- Mark Landsberger, led the Mustangs to the 1972 MN State Basketball Title. He played 7 seasons and 437 games in the NBA for the Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, and Atlanta Hawks. Won two NBA titles with the Lakers in 1980 and 1982.
- Adam Weber: class of 2006; starting quarterback for the Minnesota Golden Gophers football team.
- Nick Horvath played basketball at Duke University, including the 2001 National Championship team. Led Mounds View to the 1999 Minnesota AA State Championship and was also named Mr. Basketball.
- Mark Hamburger: Minor league pitcher for the Texas Rangers. Originally drafted by the Minnesota Twins and traded in August 2008 for relief pitcher Eddie Guardado.
