Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service (Maryland)
Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service (MCFRS) is the public safety agency that provides fire protection and emergency medical services for Montgomery County, Maryland. The services are provided by a combination of paid county personnel and volunteer members of the various independent, non-profit volunteer fire and rescue corporations located throughout the county.
In 2004, the County Council passed legislation to reorganize the Fire & Rescue Service by placing all personnel, career and volunteer, under the command of a single fire chief. However, actual services are delivered from the 19 local fire and rescue companies, who own and operate 25 of the fire stations in the county. The county uses an incident command system to coordinate the efforts of paid and volunteer personnel at the scenes of emergencies.

“I know this well, that if one thousand, if one hundred, if ten men whom I could name,if ten honest men only,ay, if one HONEST man, in this State of Massachusetts, ceasing to hold slaves, were actually to withdraw from this copartnership, and be locked up in the county jail therefor, it would be the abolition of slavery in America. For it matters not how small the beginning may seem to be: what is once well done is done forever.”

“Here I pause in my sojourning, giving thanks for having come,
come to trust, at every turning, God will guide me safely home.

Came to rescue me from danger, precious presence, precious blood.”
