Monterrey Metropolitan Area

The Monterrey metropolitan area refers to the surrounding urban agglomeration of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. Officially called Area Metropolitana de la Ciudad de Monterrey or AMM, the metropolitan area is the 3rd-largest such area in Mexico.

The Monterrey metropolitan area is composed of the municipalities/cities of:

  • Apodaca
  • Escobedo
  • García
  • Guadalupe
  • Juárez
  • Monterrey
  • Salinas Victoria
  • San Nicolás de los Garza
  • San Pedro Garza García
  • Santa Catarina
  • Santiago

There are three adjacent towns that do not maintain continuous urban development with the core urban area. These towns are considered strategic as the metropolitan area grows and integrates them:

  • Cadereyta Jiménez
  • Ciénega de Flores
  • Pesquería

Famous quotes containing the words metropolitan and/or area:

In metropolitan cases, the love of the most single-eyed lover, almost invariably, is nothing more than the ultimate settling of innumerable wandering glances upon some one specific object.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)

If you meet a sectary, or a hostile partisan, never recognize the dividing lines; but meet on what common ground remains,—if only that the sun shines, and the rain rains for both; the area will widen very fast, and ere you know it the boundary mountains, on which the eye had fastened, have melted into air.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
