Montek Singh Ahluwalia - Criticism

Criticism

Montek Singh Ahluwalia was heavily criticized by media, activists and people of India for spending whopping Rs. 35 lacs just to renovate two blocks of toilets while saying an individual above a monthly consumption of Rs. 859.6 in urban and Rs. 672.8 in rural areas is not considered poor. People and activists claim planning commission's poverty line is totally unrealistic and they define double standard, one for poor and one for rich.

Famous quotes containing the word criticism:

To be just, that is to say, to justify its existence, criticism should be partial, passionate and political, that is to say, written from an exclusive point of view, but a point of view that opens up the widest horizons.
    Charles Baudelaire (1821–1867)

Cubism had been an analysis of the object and an attempt to put it before us in its totality; both as analysis and as synthesis, it was a criticism of appearance. Surrealism transmuted the object, and suddenly a canvas became an apparition: a new figuration, a real transfiguration.
    Octavio Paz (b. 1914)

A friend of mine spoke of books that are dedicated like this: “To my wife, by whose helpful criticism ...” and so on. He said the dedication should really read: “To my wife. If it had not been for her continual criticism and persistent nagging doubt as to my ability, this book would have appeared in Harper’s instead of The Hardware Age.”
    Brenda Ueland (1891–1985)
