Early Life and Career

Brough was born in Randolph, Utah. His father died when he was still a baby, and his mother was barely able to support her family of four children. He served as an LDS Church missionary in the British Isles. from 1959-61. He married Lanette Barker; they would eventually have seven children.

Brough earned a degree in mathematics from the University of Utah. He worked with computers and in management and eventually founded his own computer services company.
