Miss Nebraska's Outstanding Teen is held in North Platte, Nebraska on the same day and in the same venue as the Miss Nebraska pageant. The winner of the pageant receives a $1,000 savings bond, and the first runner-up receives $500. the winner is also given the opportunity to perform her talent during the finals of the Miss Nebraska pageant.
Each titleholder has her own platform which she supports throughout the state during her reign. Kayla Batt's platform is music education. The travel involved in the titleholder's schedule is relatively costly, so fundraising schemes are developed to meet the cost of appearances and involvement in the national pageant.
Kayla Batt, Miss Nebraska's Outstanding Teen 2007 was the first titleholder from the Nebraska Panhandle, and her sister titleholder Ashley Bauer was also the first Miss Nebraska from the panhandle since 1971.
