The Minor Planet Electronic Circulars (MPECs) are published by the Minor Planet Center. They generally contain positional observations and orbits of unusual minor planets and all comets. Monthly lists of observable unusual objects, observable distant objects, observable comets and the critical list of numbered minor planets also appear on these circulars. Daily Orbit Update MPECs, issued every day, contain new identifications and orbits of minor planets, obtained over the previous 24 hours.
Famous quotes containing the words minor, planet, electronic and/or circular:
“Even a minor event in the life of a child is an event of that childs world and thus a world event.”
—Gaston Bachelard (18841962)
“Why should I feel lonely? is not our planet in the Milky Way?”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“The new electronic interdependence recreates the world in the image of a global village.”
—Marshall McLuhan (19111980)
“A thing is called by a certain name because it instantiates a certain universal is obviously circular when particularized, but it looks imposing when left in this general form. And it looks imposing in this general form largely because of the inveterate philosophical habit of treating the shadows cast by words and sentences as if they were separately identifiable. Universals, like facts and propositions, are such shadows.”
—David Pears (b. 1921)
