The 1957 season was the Golden Gophers' fourth under head coach Murray Warmath. The Golden Gophers won four games and lost five. Total attendance for the season was 314,769, which averaged to 62,953. The season high for attendance was against Purdue.

Fullback Dick Borstad, offensive lineman Perry Gehring and offensive lineman Mike Svendsen were named Academic All-Big Ten.

Quarterback Dick Larson was awarded the Team MVP Award.
