Miko Sotto is part of the prominent Sotto family in showbiz. He is the great-grandson of former Senator Vicente Sotto and the grandson and grandnephew of Marcelino Antonio O. Sotto and Vicente Sotto, Jr. respectively. His parents are Ali Sotto and Marcelino Antonio "Maru" Sotto, Jr., brother of incumbent Senator Vicente "Tito" Sotto III, Val Sotto and comedian Vic Sotto. His granduncle Filemon Sotto was also a former senator in the Philippines. His cousins include actors Oyo Sotto, Ciara Sotto, Danica Sotto and Gian Sotto.
At the time of his death, he was romantically involved with actress Angel Locsin, who became Oyo Sotto's girlfriend few months after his demise.
