Michael Gordon (rugby League) - Season 2010-2011

Season 2010-2011

Gordon will have reached the highlight of his career to date. Gordon has been named as a starting winger and first-choice goalkicker for the New South Wales State of Origin Team in Game III, 2010. This was also his representative debut.

On Wednesday July 7, 2010, Michael Gordon made his representative debut for New South Wales kicking 3 goals from 3 attempts.

Michael Gordon kicked his 200th NRL goal in Round 11 2010, and in Round 24 of the 2010 NRL season, Gordon set a new club record for most points in a match with 30 against the South Sydney Rabbitohs. In Round 26 of the 2010 NRL season, Gordon set a new club record for most points in a season with 14 tries, 98 goals, 252 points. He also filled in as a fullback instead of his normal position of wing several times in the season as the Penrith Panthers original fullback at the time being, Lachlan Coote obtained a groin injury, prompting the Penrith Panthers coach Matthew Elliott putting his trust in Gordon to get the job done in fullback.

In Round 10 of the 2011 NRL season Gordon injured his ACL which would require surgery which would rule him out for the remainder of the season. However there was some hope he could be back if the Panthers made the last few weeks of the 2011 Finals series, in which they didn't, with Penrith finishing 12th on the 2011 NRL ladder.
