Mexican Parrotlet

The Mexican Parrotlet (Forpus cyanopygius) is a species of parrot in the Psittacidae family. It is endemic to Western Mexico

Mexican Parrotlets are highly social birds, sometimes found in small groups, or alone, but mostly found in flocks of twenty to fifty.

Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry scrublands, deciduous forests, open grasslands with scattered trees, heavily degraded former forest,plantations,and woodlands along watercourses.

They give a variety of screechy sounding vocalizations that can sometimes make the far carrying call make it sound that there is a larger amount of Mexican Parrotlets than there are in the area making the sound.

It eats fruit such as seeds, berries, figs witch it finds on trees or on the ground. Psittacidae parrots are small, green sometimes with light blue markings, stocky birds, which can make be difficult to spot in green trees due to its green feathers.
