Mayiladuthurai is well-connected by road and rail with the rest of India. Mayiladuthurai forms a part of the Division 1 of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation which is headquartered at Kumbakonam. The town's principal bus station is located on the SH-64 State Highway. It has a total of 12 bus bays. The bus station has been given a class B rating and has basic restaurant, toilet and lighting facilities.
