Uses in Popular Culture

  • The Ink Spots version is the opening theme to the 1997 video game Fallout. Another Ink Spots song, I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire, was originally going to be used, but licensing issues forced them to use Maybe as a replacement. The song also appears on a radio station in Fallout 3.

Famous quotes containing the words popular culture, popular and/or culture:

Like other secret lovers, many speak mockingly about popular culture to conceal their passion for it.
    Mason Cooley (b. 1927)

We live under continual threat of two equally fearful, but seemingly opposed, destinies: unremitting banality and inconceivable terror. It is fantasy, served out in large rations by the popular arts, which allows most people to cope with these twin specters.
    Susan Sontag (b. 1933)

The fact remains that the human being in early childhood learns to consider one or the other aspect of bodily function as evil, shameful, or unsafe. Erik H. Erikson (1904–1994)
