Matamune - Inspired By

Inspired By

His character might be inspired by Miyazawa's "Night on the Galactic Railroad" : in fact, he's even seen reading it in tome 19 (chapter 164). Night on the Galactic Railroad was also a movie (1985), based on Kenji Miyazawa's work, and the main characters were depicted as cats, just like Matamune. Matamune is often seen travelling in trains (with Yoh, or in Hell). Therefore, it's made very clear that Hiroyuki Takei was inspired by Kenji Miyazawa's work.

Famous quotes related to inspired by:

The West is preparing to add its fables to those of the East. The valleys of the Ganges, the Nile, and the Rhine having yielded their crop, it remains to be seen what the valleys of the Amazon, the Plate, the Orinoco, the St. Lawrence, and the Mississippi will produce. Perchance, when, in the course of ages, American liberty has become a fiction of the past,—as it is to some extent a fiction of the present,—the poets of the world will be inspired by American mythology.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
