Massachusetts's 2nd Congressional District

Massachusetts's 2nd congressional district is in south central Massachusetts. It contains Springfield, the chief city of Western Massachusetts, as well as some of the southern suburbs of Worcester. It is currently represented by Richard Neal, who has served the district since January 1989. After redistricting, Jim McGovern will represent the district in 2013.

The shape of the district will undergo some changes effective from the elections of 2012, after Massachusetts congressional redistricting to reflect the 2010 census. The new 2nd district covers central Massachusetts, including much of Worcester county. Most of the old 2nd district, including Springfield, has been moved into the new 1st district.
