Martinsville has many academic clubs. The Spell Bowl team is always at the top of their class in the Indiana Academic Spell Bowl. The Academic Decathlon team is consistently at the top of their class in the Indiana Academic Decathlon, winning the state championship the last 14 years. They have an active DECA chapter. The school has a broadcast television class that produces news for the school and sports for local cable and has won many awards, one of which was the 2007 TV High School of the Year by IASB . The school's Business Professionals of America(BPA) club participates in state competitions. The school has a class that produces a school newspaper called the Artesian Herald.
