Watson is married to Emily Watson-Howes, a fellow writer and performer. Tim Key was Watson's best man. On February 23, 2010, Emily gave birth to their first child, Kit. Watson is a lifelong supporter of Bristol City Football Club and attends 10-12 games per season.
