Blake's Background
Marion Blake was born in New Britain, Connecticut, where she was the daughter of Arthur C. Blake and Elizabeth Snow Blake. Ms. Blake attended college at the Mount Holyoke College, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1913, majoring in the Greek and Latin languages. Blake earned her Master of Arts degree (1917) and her Ph.D. degree (1921) from Cornell University in New York State.
