Professional Career

Edwards was drafted in the sixth round (180th overall) of the 2000 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He spent the first four seasons of his career with the Cowboys, becoming a full time starter in 2002. While with the Cowboys, he started 47 games and was part of the statistically ranked number one overall defense in 2003. In 2004, Edwards signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a free agent and spent only one season with the team. In 2005, he signed with the Miami Dolphins after the possibility of trading Patrick Surtain to the Kansas City Chiefs, which eventually happened. Edwards would be released prior to the beginning of the season.
