She was married to cinematographer and educator, Manolo Abaya and they have two sons -- singer/actor Marc Abaya and David Abaya, a cinematographer. Her nephew, Jose Emilio "Jun" Abaya, who was Congressman of Cavite and became Department of Transportation and Communications Secretary.
