Marc Brownstein

Marc "Brownie" Brownstein (born April 8, 1973 in Manhattan, New York City, New York) is the founder and bassist of Philadelphia-based jamtronica band, The Disco Biscuits. He is also a co-founder and co-chair of voter registration group, HeadCount, as well as the host of weekly radio show, "Jamtronica," on Sirius Satellite Radio's jamband channel, Jam On.

Brownstein is married, has three kids and is Jewish. He attended Poly Prep Country Day School. Personal Life

Brownstein also leads Electron (the first band to perform his rock opera, Chemical Warfare Brigade), an all star collaboration that includes Aron Magner (The Disco Biscuits) on keys, Tom Hamilton (Brothers Past, Tom Hamilton's American Babies) on guitar, and Joe Russo (The Benevento/Russo Duo, Tom Hamilton's American Babies, Furthur) on drums. Electron was formed during Brownie's brief hiatus from The Biscuits after Brownstein and the Biscuits went separate ways in 2000. Electron returned in 2013 with Aron Magner, Marc Brownstein, Tom Hamilton (Brothers Past), and Mike Greenfield (Lotus (American band)).

Electron is only the tip of the iceberg as far as side projects go. Conspirator featuring Aron Magner and formerly DJ Omen is a live electronic act that was born out of the ashes of Sam Altman's departure from the Disco Biscuits in 2005. Conspirator became its own project, selling out venues across the country. Conspirator is now a collaboration of Brownstein, Magner, Chris Machetti of RAQ, and KJ Swanda of Pendulum.

In addition to Electron and Conspirator, Marc also is involved in (in no particular order) Sucker Punch, The Maui Project, JM2, Laverneous Cool, The Join, The Brain Damaged Eggmen, and most recently the project Younger Brother with psy trance phenom Simon Posford.
