Man To Man With Dean Learner - Production

Production

Holness and Ayoade spent time testing out material in front of a live audience in December 2005; the show involved Ayoade fixed in the role of smut-peddling presenter Dean Learner and Holness playing various characters. These included a sci-fi — or "S.F.", as he preferred it — actor with a new biography detailing his extremely close relationship with a director, Garth Marenghi; folk musician Merriman Weir who has a penchant for rather dark songs (Holness is an adept guitarist); and another actor, who delivered a chilling and possibly improvised monologue.

Bafta Nominated composer Andrew Hewitt, who scored Darkplace, also scored sections of Man to Man.

An amount of the humour stems from Learner's dubious business activities and misogynistic tendencies — with Finnish model Satu Suominen (as his 'beautiful assistant-cum-bartender') being the target of many of his jibes.

Famous quotes containing the word production:

The heart of man ever finds a constant succession of passions, so that the destroying and pulling down of one proves generally to be nothing else but the production and the setting up of another.
François, Duc De La Rochefoucauld (1613–1680)

The production of too many useful things results in too many useless people.
    Karl Marx (1818–1883)

The growing of food and the growing of children are both vital to the family’s survival.... Who would dare make the judgment that holding your youngest baby on your lap is less important than weeding a few more yards in the maize field? Yet this is the judgment our society makes constantly. Production of autos, canned soup, advertising copy is important. Housework—cleaning, feeding, and caring—is unimportant.
    Debbie Taylor (20th century)
