Demographics
According to the 2002 census of the National Statistics Institute, Malloa spans an area of 112.6 km2 (43 sq mi) and has 12,872 inhabitants (6,666 men and 6,206 women). Of these, 4,709 (36.6%) lived in urban areas and 8,163 (63.4%) in rural areas. The population grew by 5.1% (620 persons) between the 1992 and 2002 censuses.
