Magic Valley Christian College

Magic Valley Christian College was an institution of higher learning located in Albion, Idaho at 42°24′48″N 113°35′02″W / 42.41333°N 113.58389°W / 42.41333; -113.58389. The school, affiliated with the Churches of Christ, opened in 1958 on the former campus of Albion State Normal School, which was leased to the new college by the State of Idaho for $100 per year.

Magic Valley Christian suffered from inadequate financial support throughout its existence, due in large part to the extremely small size of the Churches of Christ community in Idaho. The college closed its Albion campus after the spring 1969 term and relocated to Baker City, Oregon, where it was renamed Baker College. Baker College, in turn, shut down in 1970.

The student records of both Magic Valley Christian College and Baker College are now maintained by Oklahoma Christian University in Oklahoma City.

Famous quotes containing the words magic, valley, christian and/or college:

    Until it is kindled by a spirit as flamingly alive as the one which gave it birth a book is dead to us. Words divested of their magic are but dead hieroglyphs.
    Henry Miller (1891–1980)

    The wide wonder of Broadway is disconsolate in the daytime; but gaudily glorious at night, with a milling crowd filling sidewalk and roadway, silent, going up, going down, between upstanding banks of brilliant lights, each building braided and embossed with glowing, many-coloured bulbs of man-rayed luminance. A glowing valley of the shadow of life. The strolling crowd went slowly by through the kinematically divine thoroughfare of New York.
    Sean O’Casey (1884–1964)

    You see few people here in America who really care very much about living a Christian life in a democratic world.
    Clare Boothe Luce (1903–1987)

    When first the college rolls receive his name,
    The young enthusiast quilts his ease for fame;
    Through all his veins the fever of renown
    Burns from the strong contagion of the gown;
    Samuel Johnson (1709–1784)
