Macupdate

MacUpdate is an Apple Macintosh and iPhone software download website, started in the late-1990s. As of summer 2009, it is the 114th fastest growing privately owned company in the USA, according to Inc. Magazine, which lists MacUpdate as the #1 fastest growing company in Michigan, and the 5th fastest growing retail company in the United States. It has been featured in several magazines and newspapers including The New York Times, USA Today, Detroit News & Free Press, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Macworld and MacLife.

MacUpdate is updated every day, listing the newest updates and releases of Macintosh software for the Mac OS X and iPhone operating systems. It does not list Microsoft Windows or Linux software, although it does list some software that has been ported from Linux and requires Apple's X11 environment. The website is free to use. A membership service is also available that offers users expanded services such as email notifications, watch lists, daily email newsletters, and the ability to rate and review software, and discounts on software sales through their MacUpdate Promo website.

In 2007, MacUpdate launched the MacUpdate Promo website which provides a deal a day on Macintosh software; often 40% off. Most deals are offered for only 24-hours. MacUpdate Promo also sells software bundles three or four times a year, which include 10 or more Mac applications for one low price usually around 90% off.

In October 2009 MacUpdate launched a new version of its MacUpdate Desktop application which enables members to automatically update all of the software on their Mac, leveraging the large MacUpdate software database.
