Lydiate

Lydiate is a village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton in Merseyside, England but historically in Lancashire.The Village is the only remaining official village in Merseyside, this was declared in 2010 following Knowsley Village becoming officially Prescot,the changes followed the amount of Greenbelt land around the parishes. It is located to the north of Maghull, with which it has a common history. Also the northern part of it, at Greens Lane, falls into West Lancs so it has split boundaries. At the 2001 Census the village and civil parish of Lydiate had a population of 6,672.
