Biography

Luis de Garrido studied architecture in the Polytechnic University of Valencia where he graduated with a doctorate. He also completed a masters degree in Urban Design at the (Polytechnic University of Catalonia). Later he moved to the United States where he studied computer science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he graduated with a doctorate.

During this time he taught a large range of subjects at the information technology faculty at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), the information technology faculty at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), in the school of telecommunications. Universitat Ramón Llull (URL). Barcelona, and as associate professor at the Architectural school at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) and at the Architectural school at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC).

He has also worked as a visiting professor at the School of Architecture, Edinburgh, Scotland. UK, the Ecóle d´Architecture de Marseille, France, the Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, the Université de Paris-Sud. France.

Currently, Luis de Garrido directs an architectural firm en Valencia, Spain where is designs sustainable architecture. He also directs a masters course entitled “Intelligent Buildings and sustainable construction” (MEICS). More recently he also created projects in Colombia and Mexico, where he teaches at the University TEC de Monterrey, Mexico and at the University of Valle, Cali, Colombia.
