Viola Wills released her own house version of the song in 1989.
Almighty Records created a version of "Love Pains" for use on the UK TV series Queer as Folk. The track, credited to an artist called Obsession, was included on the Gold-selling soundtrack released in March 1999. The song was also used as a B-side to Obsession's 1999 single "On A Day Like Today."
"Love Pains" has also been recorded by Kelly Marie and - rendered in Dutch as "Vrij Zijn" - by Petra.
