Cover Versions

An instrumental cover was recorded by the UK jazz-funk duo Morrissey – Mullen at EMI's London Abbey Road Studios in 1979 and was the first digital recording to be made of a non-classical ensemble. It was released as the first of the EMI Digital series in a limited edition 12" single. Jimmy Nail's version was released in 1985 in his native United Kingdom, reaching number three on the UK Singles Chart. Coincidentally, Australian band I'm Talking also released a version in late 1985. A reggae version was released in 1997 by dancehall artist Bounty Killer and Swedish singer Robyn. Ms. Dynamite used an interpolation of "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" in her song "She Don't Live Here Anymore", from her album Judgement Days (2005). Another interpolation was used in MoKenStef's song "Stop Callin' Me", for their 1995 album Azz Izz, replacing the original line with "Your man don't live here anymore." Faith Evans recorded it as a duet with Mary J. Blige on her 1995 album Faith. Melissa Totten recorded a Hi-NRG cover for her 2008 dance album Forever Madonna.
