LORAN-C transmitter Carolina Beach is the Zulu secondary station of the U.S. Southeast chain ( GRI 7270) with a transmission power of 800 kW. In 1961 the tower, which was equipped with radials although it was not designed for this, buckled in a storm and collapsed. It was replaced by a guyed mast radiator of same height.
