Lok Bhalai Party (LBP) was founded by B.S.Ramoowalia in 1999 to take up causes of Punjabis, who have been duped by unscrupulous travel agents of lakhs of rupees grabbed on false promise of sending them abroad. Lok Bhalai Party fights for other social causes, including of holiday wife girls who are wedded to visiting Punjabi Non-resident Indian and then dumped after the husbands go back and never return.
