Liz Mc Clarnon - Atomic Kitten

Atomic Kitten

In 1997, while McClarnon was still in secondary school, her music teacher arranged for her to take part in an audition with musician Andy McCluskey, who was aiming to create a new girl group. The group became Atomic Kitten, who released their first record in 1999.

McClarnon is the only original member of the initial line-up of Atomic Kitten (Heidi Range was replaced by Natasha Hamilton in 1999, and Kerry Katona was replaced by Jenny Frost in 2001). Although the trio no longer record together as a group, they occasionally reform for one-off performances.

Atomic Kitten had three UK number one singles, Whole Again, Eternal Flame, and The Tide Is High. They also had two UK number one albums, Right Now, and Feels So Good, both being certified double-platinum in the UK for sales of over 600,000 copies each. The total worldwide sales are estimated at 6.2 million singles and 4 million albums.

On 4 March 2012 it was confirmed that Atomic Kitten would reform.

Famous quotes containing the words atomic and/or kitten:

No atomic physicist has to worry, people will always want to kill other people on a mass scale. Sure, he’s got the fridge full of sausages and spring water.
    William Burroughs (b. 1914)

Do you see that kitten chasing so prettily her own tail? If you could look with her eyes, you might see her surrounded with hundreds of figures performing complex dramas, with tragic and comic issues, long conversations, many characters, many ups and downs of fate,—and meantime it is only puss and her tail.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
