Diamond Editions
Beginning with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in October 2009, Disney began re-issuing the Platinum Edition titles under a new Diamond Edition classification on Blu-ray with an accompanying DVD seven weeks later. Initially, Aladdin was supposed to be replaced with Fantasia and Fantasia 2000, which would have been released as a 2-movie collection, before it was re-released separate from the Diamond Edition line. According to an insert in the Diamond Edition of Lady and the Tramp, it was unexpectedly announced that Aladdin was scheduled to be released as the Diamond Edition for Spring 2013. However, in an insert in the Diamond Edition of Cinderella, it was announced that Peter Pan would instead be the Spring 2013 Diamond Edition release to celebrate the film's 60th anniversary. To date, there has been no confirmation whether Aladdin will be released as a Diamond Edition at a later time and no confirmation of a 3D version. Disney plans to release all of the Diamond Editions titles by 2016.
In October 2011, Disney released The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast as 3D Blu-ray / 2D Blu-ray / DVD / Digital Copy combo packs. The 3D Blu-ray / 2D Blu-ray / DVD / Digital Copy of The Lion King was also released in a combo pack with the sequels of the film, entitiled The Lion King Trilogy.
