List of United States Senators in The 102nd Congress By Seniority

This is a classification of United States Senators by seniority during the 102nd Congress, from January 3, 1991 to January 3, 1993.

Order of service is based on the commencement of the senator's first term. Behind this is former service as a senator (only giving the Senator seniority within his or her new incoming class), service as Vice President, a House member, a Cabinet secretary, or a state governor. The final factor is the population of the senator's state.

Senators who were sworn in in the middle of the two-year congressional term (up until the last senator who was not sworn in early after winning the November 1992 election) are listed at the end of the list with no number.

Famous quotes containing the words list of, list, united, states, senators and/or congress:

My list of things I never pictured myself saying when I pictured myself as a parent has grown over the years.
    Polly Berrien Berends (20th century)

    Lovers, forget your love,
And list to the love of these,
    She a window flower,
    And he a winter breeze.
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)

You may consider me presumptuous, gentlemen, but I claim to be a citizen of the United States, with all the qualifications of a voter. I can read the Constitution, I am possessed of two hundred and fifty dollars, and the last time I looked in the old family Bible I found I was over twenty-one years of age.
    Elizabeth Cady Stanton (1816–1902)

    How many ages hence
Shall this our lofty scene be acted over
In states unborn and accents yet unknown!
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

When he laughed, respectable senators burst with laughter,
And when he cried the little children died in the streets.
    —W.H. (Wystan Hugh)

I have been up to see the Congress and they do not seem to be able to do anything except to eat peanuts and chew tobacco, while my army is starving.
    Robert E. Lee (1807–1870)
