List Of TNA World Tag Team Champions

The TNA World Tag Team Championship is a professional wrestling world tag team championship contested for in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling's (TNA) tag team division. After the formation of TNA in June 2002, the company executives signed a contractual agreement with the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) that allowed them control of the NWA World Heavyweight and World Tag Team Championships. TNA subsequently changed their name to NWA–TNA, making them an official subsidiary of the NWA in the process. In May 2007, the NWA ended their five-year partnership with TNA, and thus regained control of the NWA World Heavyweight and World Tag Team Championships. As a result, TNA created the TNA World Heavyweight and World Tag Team Championships, which were unveiled on TNA's online podcast TNA Today on the May 15 and May 17, 2007 editions. In the respective editions, the championships were awarded to the last NWA champions under TNA banner by Jeremy Borash and TNA's primary authority figure Jim Cornette. The championship was officially presented to the public and awarded to the first official champions, Team 3D (Brother Devon and Brother Ray), on May 17.

Title reigns are determined either by professional wrestling matches between different wrestlers involved in pre-existing scripted feuds, plots, and storylines, or by scripted circumstances. Wrestlers were portrayed as either villains or heroes as they followed a series of tension-building events, which culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches for the championship. Reigns that were won on episodes of TNA's primary television program, TNA Impact!, aired on television two to nine days from the date the match was taped. The inaugural champions were Team 3D, who were awarded the championship by being the last NWA World Tag Team Champions under TNA banner. Beer Money, Inc. (James Storm and Robert "Bobby" Roode) hold the record for most reigns as a team, with four. Roode has the most reigns by a single competitor with five. The longest reign as of February 2013 is 7002212000000000000212 days, by the team of Beer Money, Inc., who set the record in their fourth reign. As of February 2013, Austin Aries and Bobby Roode are the current champions in their first reign as a team. Individually this is the first reign for Aries and the record breaking fifth for Roode. They defeated previous champions Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Hernandez on January 25, 2013 in Manchester, England to win the titles. Although the title is a World Tag Team Championship, supposedly only intended for tag teams, three different wrestlers have held the championship by themselves—Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle and Matt Morgan. Joe held the championship during his entire reign alone; however, Angle held the championship alone for 15 days until Sting won a match involving three other competitors to become Angle's partner and Morgan held the championship after (kayfabe) injuring his championship partner. Overall, there have been 27 reigns shared between 30 wrestlers and 22 teams.

Famous quotes containing the words list of, list, world, tag, team and/or champions:

Do your children view themselves as successes or failures? Are they being encouraged to be inquisitive or passive? Are they afraid to challenge authority and to question assumptions? Do they feel comfortable adapting to change? Are they easily discouraged if they cannot arrive at a solution to a problem? The answers to those questions will give you a better appraisal of their education than any list of courses, grades, or test scores.
    Lawrence Kutner (20th century)

    Shea—they call him Scholar Jack—
Went down the list of the dead.
    Officers, seamen, gunners, marines,
The crews of the gig and yawl,
The bearded man and the lad in his teens,
    Carpenters, coal-passers—all.
    Joseph I. C. Clarke (1846–1925)

Think what a mean and wretched place this world is; that half the time we have to light a lamp that we may see to live in it. This is half our life. Who would undertake the enterprise if it were all?
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

I believe in the flesh and the appetites,
Seeing, hearing, feeling, are miracles, and each part and tag of me
    is a miracle.

Divine am I inside and out, and I make holy whatever I touch or am touch’d from,
The scent of these arm-pits aroma finer than prayer,
This head more than churches, bibles, and all the creeds.
    Walt Whitman (1819–1892)

Once a word is spoken, a team of four horse cannot retake it.
    Chinese proverb.

Myths and legends die hard in America. We love them for the extra dimension they provide, the illusion of near-infinite possibility to erase the narrow confines of most men’s reality. Weird heroes and mould-breaking champions exist as living proof to those who need it that the tyranny of “the rat race” is not yet final.
    Hunter S. Thompson (b. 1939)
