Yuan Dynasty

  • Chaghan Temür (traditional Chinese: 察罕特穆兒; simplified Chinese: 察罕特穆儿; Mandarin Pinyin: Cháhǎn Tèmù'ér; Jyutping: Caat3-hon2 Dak6-muk6-ji4) is also known by his title, the Prince of Ruyang (traditional Chinese: 汝陽王; simplified Chinese: 汝阳王; pinyin: Rǔyáng Wáng). He is appointed by the Yuan government to eradicate rebel forces led by the Ming Cult. He is Zhao Min and Köke Temür's father.
  • Lady Han (traditional Chinese: 韓氏女; simplified Chinese: 韩氏女; Mandarin Pinyin: Hán Shì Nǚ; Jyutping: Hon4 Si6 Neoi5) is Chaghan Temür's concubine. She is killed in Wan'an Monastery by Lu Zhangke, who wants to prevent her from telling Chaghan about his sexual advances on her. Lu frames the captured martial artists and Ming Cult members for the murder.
  • Köke Temür (traditional Chinese: 擴廓帖木兒; simplified Chinese: 扩廓帖木儿; Mandarin Pinyin: Kuòkuò Tiēmù'ér; Jyutping: Kwok3-kwok3 Tip3-muk6-ji4) is Chaghan Temür's son and Zhao Min's older brother.
  • The Xuanming Elders (Chinese: 玄冥二老; Mandarin Pinyin: Xuánmíng Èr Lǎo; Jyutping: Jyun4-ming4 Ji6 Lou5) are the students of the late Taoist Baisun (traditional Chinese: 百損道人; simplified Chinese: 百损道人; Mandarin Pinyin: Báisǔn Dàorén; Jyutping: Baak3-syun2 Dou3-jan4). They serve Chaghan Temür as mercenaries and they once injured Zhang Wuji with their infamous 'Xuanming Divine Palm' (玄明神掌). Later, after seeing how powerful Zhou Zhiruo had become from practising the skills in the Nine Yin Manual, they attempt to seize the book from her, but are unwilling to share it with each other, and start fighting over the manual. Zhang Wuji and Zhao Min show up to help Zhou and defeat the Xuanming Elders. In the earlier editions of the novel, the Elders lose their powers after their last fight with Zhang Wuji. The Elders are:
    • Lu Zhangke (Chinese: 鹿杖客; Mandarin Pinyin: Lù Zhàngkè; Jyutping: Luk6 Zoeng6-haak3), a lecherous fiend who has raped many young women. He lusts for Lady Han and Zhou Zhiruo.
    • He Biweng (traditional Chinese: 鶴筆翁; simplified Chinese: 鹤笔翁; Mandarin Pinyin: Hè Bǐwēng; Jyutping: Hok6 Bat1-jung1), who has a penchant for fine wine.
  • Huogong Toutuo's disciples are recruited by Chaghan Temür as mercenaries. They and Cheng Kun massacred the Dragon Gate Escort Agency and later paralysed Yu Daiyan. 20 years later, they ambush and injure Yin Liting. They are defeated by Zhang Wuji in a fight. They are:
    • Fang Dongbai (traditional Chinese: 方東白; simplified Chinese: 方东白; Mandarin Pinyin: Fāng Dōngbái; Jyutping: Fong1 Dung1-baak6), also called A'da (Chinese: 阿大; Mandarin Pinyin: Ā'dà; Jyutping: Aa3-daai6), is nicknamed "Eight Arms Divine Swordsman" (traditional Chinese: 八臂神劍; simplified Chinese: 八臂神剑; Mandarin Pinyin: Bā Bì Shén Jiàn; Jyutping: Baat3 Bei3 San4 Gim3) because his skill in swordplay appears to be unmatched. He was originally a high-ranking member of the Beggars' Sect, but later faked his death and joined his sworn brothers in serving Chaghan Temür as mercenaries.
    • A'er (Chinese: 阿二; Mandarin Pinyin: Ā'èr; Jyutping: Aa3-ji6)
    • A'san (Chinese: 阿三; Mandarin Pinyin: Ā'sān; Jyutping: Aa3-saam1) is responsible for paralysing Yu Daiyan and Yin Liting.
    • Gangxiang (traditional Chinese: 剛相; simplified Chinese: 刚相; Mandarin Pinyin: Gāngxiàng; Jyutping: Gong1-soeng3) is killed by Zhang Sanfeng after he tried to ambush the latter while in disguise as a Shaolin monk called Kongxiang (Chinese: 空相; Mandarin Pinyin: Kōngxiàng; Jyutping: Hung1-soeng3)
  • The "Divine Arrow Eight Heroes" (神箭八雄) are a group of eight martial artists recruited by Chaghan Temür as mercenaries. They are:
    • Zhao Yishang (traditional Chinese: 趙一傷; simplified Chinese: 赵一伤; Mandarin Pinyin: Zhào Yīshāng; Jyutping: Ziu6 Jat1-soeng1)
    • Qian Erbai (traditional Chinese: 錢二敗; simplified Chinese: 钱二败; Mandarin Pinyin: Qián Èrbài; Jyutping: Cin2 Ji6-baai6)
    • Sun Sanhui (traditional Chinese: 孫三毀; simplified Chinese: 孙三毁; Mandarin Pinyin: Sūn Sānhuǐ; Jyutping: Syun1 Saam1-wai2)
    • Li Sicui (Chinese: 李四摧; Mandarin Pinyin: Lǐ Sìcuī; Jyutping: Lei5 Sei3-ceoi1)
    • Zhou Wushu (traditional Chinese: 周五輸; simplified Chinese: 周五输; Mandarin Pinyin: Zhōu Wǔshū; Jyutping: Zau1 Ng5-syu1)
    • Wu Liupo (traditional Chinese: 吳六破; simplified Chinese: 吴六破; Mandarin Pinyin: Wú Lìupò; Jyutping: Ng5 Luk6-po3)
    • Zheng Qimie (traditional Chinese: 鄭七滅; simplified Chinese: 郑七灭; Mandarin Pinyin: Zhèng Qīmiè; Jyutping: Zeng6 Cat1-mit6)
    • Wang Bashuai (Chinese: 王八衰; traditional Chinese: 王八衰; Mandarin Pinyin: Wáng Bāshuāi; Jyutping: Wong4 Baat3-seoi1)
