  • Jueyuan (traditional Chinese: 覺遠; simplified Chinese: 觉远; Mandarin Pinyin: Juéyuǎn; Jyutping: Gok3-jyun5) was Wuse and Wuxiang's junior. He is credited as the creator of the Nine Yang Manual and the teacher of Zhang Sanfeng. Before his death, he recited the manual to Zhang and Guo Xiang, who respectively founded the Wudang and Emei sects later.
  • Cheng Kun (Chinese: 成昆; Mandarin Pinyin: Chéng Kūn; Jyutping: Sing4 Gwan1) is the primary antagonist in the novel. He seeks to destroy the Ming Cult after the loss of his beloved. Driven completely insane by this tragedy, he murdered Xie Xun's family in cold blood and Xie sees him as a sworn enemy. He disguises himself as a Shaolin monk called Yuanzhen (traditional Chinese: 圓真; simplified Chinese: 圆真; Mandarin Pinyin: Yuánzhēn; Jyutping: Jyun4-zan1) and makes his evil plans to stir up conflict between the Ming Cult and the other sects. Although he shares the same aversion towards the Mongols as his fellow Han Chinese, his desire to destroy the Ming Cult overshadows this sentiment and he collaborates with the Yuan government to persecute the cult. He holds a grudge against Zhang Wuji for the loss of one of his skills, Huanyin Finger (幻陰指), after their first encounter. He becomes even more corrupted by his lust for power and later plots with Chen Youliang to dominate the wulin (martial artists' community). He is blinded by Xie Xun in their final battle and is defeated.
  • Four Holy Monks (四大神僧):
    • Kongjian (traditional Chinese: 空見; simplified Chinese: 空见; Mandarin Pinyin: Kōngjiàn; Jyutping: Hung1-gin3) mastered the art of invincibility. He attempted to appease Xie Xun's rage by allowing the latter to hit him without putting up resistance, but is killed when Xie pretends to commit suicide and lands a hit on him instead. Xie later often regretted killing Kongjian.
    • Kongwen (traditional Chinese: 空聞; simplified Chinese: 空闻; Mandarin Pinyin: Kōngwén; Jyutping: Hung1-man4) is Shaolin's abbot.
    • Kongzhi (Chinese: 空智; Mandarin Pinyin: Kōngzhì; Jyutping: Hung1-zi3) is Kongwen's hot-tempered junior.
    • Kongxing (Chinese: 空性; Mandarin Pinyin: Kōngxìng; Jyutping: Hung1-sing3) is murdered by Cheng Kun.
  • The Three Elders of the Bodhidharma Hall (達摩堂三元老) form the 'Vajra Evil Subduing Ring' (金剛伏魔圈) to guard Xie Xun when the latter is held captive in Shaolin. They previously fought Yang Dingtian after being instigated by Cheng Kun. Later, after listening to Zhang Wuji's explanation, they become more aware of Cheng Kun's wicked intentions. The Three Elders are:
    • Du'e (Chinese: 渡厄; Mandarin Pinyin: Dù'è; Jyutping: Dou6-aak1) lost his left eye during the fight with Yang Dingtian. He trusts Zhang Wuji despite standing on an opposing side.
    • Dujie (Chinese: 渡劫; Mandarin Pinyin: Dùjié; Jyutping: Dou6-gip3)
    • Du'nan (traditional Chinese: 渡難; simplified Chinese: 渡难; Mandarin Pinyin: Dù'nàn; Jyutping: Dou6-naan6)
  • Huogong Toutuo (traditional Chinese: 火工頭陀; simplified Chinese: 火工头陀; Mandarin Pinyin: Huǒgōng Tóutuó; Jyutping: Fo2-gung1 Tau4-to4) is a traitor of Shaolin. He learnt some of Shaolin's skills and fled to the western regions, where he founded the Vajra Sect (金剛門).
