Basketball
- 2FG – Two-point field goal. Used in ULEB box scores, but not generally in North America.
- 3FG, 3P – Three-point field goal. ULEB uses "3FG", while the NBA uses "3P"; North American media outlets, such as ESPN, generally (but not always) follow NBA practice.
- ACB – Asociación de Clubes de Baloncesto (Spanish, "Association of Basketball Clubs")
- AS, AST – Assist
- BA – Blocks against—i.e., the number of a player's shots that were blocked. This is used by the NBA.
- BL, BLK, BS – Blocked shots. ULEB uses "BL", ESPN uses "BLK", and the NBA uses "BS".
- C – Center
- DEF – Defensive. Used by the NBA as a subheading for rebounding statistics in its official box scores.
- DREB – Defensive rebounds. Used by ESPN. The NBA and ULEB spell out the word "Rebounds" in their box scores and use subheadings for the different types. The NBA uses three-letter abbreviations, while ULEB uses only the first letter
- F – Forward
- FG – Field goal (includes successful shots for two and three points)
- FT – Free throw
- G – Guard
- M-A – Made and attempted. In North America, appended to an abbreviation for a type of scoring. ULEB box scores use this as a subheading for the score type.
- MIN – Minutes played
- NBA – National Basketball Association
- OFF – Offensive. Used by the NBA as a subheading for rebounding statistics in its official box scores.
- OREB – Offensive rebounds. Used by ESPN; see "DREB" above for use in other leagues.
- PF – Personal foul, power forward
- PG – Point guard
- POS – Position. Used in NBA box scores.
- PTS – Points scored
- REB – Rebounds. Used by ESPN, but not by most leagues.
- SF – Small forward
- SG – Shooting guard
- ST, STL – Steal. The NBA and ULEB use "ST", while ESPN uses "STL".
- TO – Turnover
- TOT – Total; used by the NBA as a subheading for rebounding statistics in its official box scores.
- ULEB – Union des ligues européennes de basket-ball (French, "Union of European Leagues of Basketball"). This body organizes the Euroleague and Eurocup.
