Steve Fugate
Steve Fugate of Florida was inspired to walk across the United States following the 1999 suicide of his son, Stevie. Since then, he has walked over 30,000 miles (48,000 km) through the 48 contiguous United States, passed through more than 2,000 communities and worn out 43 pairs of shoes, crossing the United States 6 times and walking both coasts twice each, while carrying a large sign that states, "LOVE LIFE."
