The vast majority of students' organizations active in the campuses in India are backed by political parties. But there are a few organizations that are mostly active only in a handful of colleges and universities or sometimes exclusively operating in one campus, which are not affiliated to any political formation. Critics often prefer to call them apolitical organizations rather than non-political organizations. These organizations provide a suitable platform for politically active students dissatisfied with the allegedly corrupt politics in India.


  • Bharat Jakat Santarh Pathua Gaunta (All India Santal Students' Association), is a non-plitical social Santal(Largest Adivasi community in India)students-youth association. It is established in the year of 1997 in the campus of Jhargram Raj College, Jhargram, Dist.-Paschim Medinipur, State-West Bengal in the aim to achieve the goal to "SURVIVE AS SANTAL RACE". It operates in the districts of West Bengal (Paschim Medinipur, Purulia, Bankura)and Jharkhand (East Singhbhum)state. For the last few years it is organizing the observance of International Indigenous Peoples Day on 9 August every year along with a Adivasi Students'-Youths Convention at Jhargram to convince Adivasi (Indigenous)people about their rights.
  • Khalsa College Student Union (KCSU Party), is a first non-political student organization in North India. It was formed in 2000 by brilliant minds who wants to have a student organization which is free of any political pressure.

  • We The Independents (WTI), is a non-political student body that started in 1993 in Faculty of Science in Jadavpur University, Calcutta, India. It is run and operated by the students' of the faculty in and by themselves. There is no interference of any kind by any external organization or even the alumni. WTI has been winning the Science Faculty Students' Union elections in Jadavpur University since 1995 and its current run extends since 1996.

  • Indian National Youth Movement (INYM)is working towards formulation and efficient delivery of National Youth Policy

for India by 2014.It encourages participation of youth in mainstream political process.
