| A nameless shinigami, interested in visiting the human world, visits Ryuk sometime after Kira case has concluded. Receiving an apple from the former, Ryuk agrees to tell Light's story, but stops at Light's victory over L. | The OVA summarizes the "Mello and Near" arc of the anime by omitting most of Mello's involvement in the Kira case. Unlike its predecessor, the OVA merely uses a condensed version of the final episode as its ending, followed by an added scene of Ryuk leaving the human realm. There is also an added scene of Aizawa and Matsuda finding Light's body. |
