List of Connecticut Area Codes

This is a list of area codes in Connecticut:

  • 203 - Covering southwestern Connecticut (Fairfield County (except for Sherman); New Haven County, and the towns of Bethlehem, Woodbury, as well as a small part of Roxbury in Litchfield County.)
  • 475 - Overlaid 203 in December 2009.
  • 860 - Northern and southeastern Connecticut
  • 959 - Overlays 860; date TBD

In 1999, Connecticut announced that there would be two additional codes to be implemented when needed: 475, which would overlay 203; and 959, which would overlay 860. In March 2009, NANPA announced that Area Code 475 would overlay 203 in December 2009. Effective November 14, 2009, all calls originating from area code 203 or 860 must be dialed with 10 digits beginning with the area code, including calls within the same area code.

Famous quotes containing the words list of, list, area and/or codes:

Every morning I woke in dread, waiting for the day nurse to go on her rounds and announce from the list of names in her hand whether or not I was for shock treatment, the new and fashionable means of quieting people and of making them realize that orders are to be obeyed and floors are to be polished without anyone protesting and faces are to be made to be fixed into smiles and weeping is a crime.
    Janet Frame (b. 1924)

I am opposed to writing about the private lives of living authors and psychoanalyzing them while they are alive. Criticism is getting all mixed up with a combination of the Junior F.B.I.- men, discards from Freud and Jung and a sort of Columnist peep- hole and missing laundry list school.... Every young English professor sees gold in them dirty sheets now. Imagine what they can do with the soiled sheets of four legal beds by the same writer and you can see why their tongues are slavering.
    Ernest Hemingway (1899–1961)

... nothing is more human than substituting the quantity of words and actions for their character. But using imprecise words is very similar to using lots of words, for the more imprecise a word is, the greater the area it covers.
    Robert Musil (1880–1942)

I cannot help thinking that the menace of Hell makes as many devils as the severe penal codes of inhuman humanity make villains.
    George Gordon Noel Byron (1788–1824)
