List of Christian Gospel Artists

List Of Christian Gospel Artists

This list is specifically for Christian music performers in the Gospel music genres who have either been very important to the genre, or have had a considerable amount of exposure, such as in the case of one that has been on a major label, but not limited to such. The Encyclopedia of Contemporary Christian Music (2002) defines CCM as "music that appeals to self-identified fans of contemporary Christian music on account of a perceived connection to what they regard as Christianity". Based on this definition, this list includes artists that work in the Christian music industry as well as artists in the general market.

Bands are listed by the first letter in their name (not including the words "a", "an", or "the"), and individuals are listed by family name.

Note: Because classifying gospel music can be arbitrary, these groupings are generalized and many artists appear on multiple lists.

Famous quotes containing the words list of, list, christian, gospel and/or artists:

Love’s boat has been shattered against the life of everyday. You and I are quits, and it’s useless to draw up a list of mutual hurts, sorrows, and pains.
    Vladimir Mayakovsky (1893–1930)

Weigh what loss your honor may sustain
If with too credent ear you list his songs,
Or lose your heart, or your chaste treasure open
    To his unmastered importunity.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

We must choose. Be a child of the past with all its crudities and imperfections, its failures and defeats, or a child of the future, the future of symmetry and ultimate success.
Frances E. Willard 1839–1898, U.S. president of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union 1879-1891, author, activist. The Woman’s Magazine, pp. 137-40 (January 1887)

The drama’s altar isn’t on the stage: it is candle-sticked and flowered in the box office. There is the gold, though there be no frankincense or myrrh; and the gospel for the day always The Play will Run for a Year. The Dove of Inspiration, of the desire for inspiration, has flown away from it; and on it’s roof, now, the commonplace crow caws candidly.
    Sean O’Casey (1884–1964)

If the artist is not also a craftsman, the artist is nothing, but calamity: most of our artists are nothing but craftsmen.
    Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe (1749–1832)
