Kareena Kapoor is an Indian actress who appears in Bollywood films. Making her acting debut with J. P. Dutta's 2000 film Refugee, Kapoor earned the award for Best Female Debut at the 46th Filmfare Awards. In addition to winning at Filmfare, she received three more Best Debut awards at the Bollywood Movie, IIFA and Sansui ceremonies, and was also awarded the Lux Face of the Year at the Zee Cine Awards. The following year, Kapoor went on to feature in the critically acclaimed drama Asoka, for which she earned her first Filmfare nomination for Best Actress, and the melodrama Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham..., which became one of her biggest commercial successes to date.

After receiving negative reviews for a series of repetitive roles, she was noted for her performance in Sudhir Mishra's Chameli. Her portrayal of a sex worker in the film won her a special jury recognition at the Stardust and Filmfare ceremonies, among others. Following Chameli, she went on to feature in the critically acclaimed projects, Dev (2004) and Omkara (2006), both of which earned her different nominations at major award ceremonies. In 2007, Kapoor earned several awards for her performance in the romantic comedy Jab We Met, including her first Filmfare Award for Best Actress. She went on to play the lead female role in the thriller Kurbaan (2009), for which she earned critical acclaim, and the drama 3 Idiots (2009), which became the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time. Both films won her the award for Best Actress (Popular Choice) at the Screen Awards and Kapoor later received the IIFA Award for Best Actress for her performance in 3 Idiots.

In addition to achieving merit honours, Kapoor has received recognitions at major Indian film and fashion award functions. These include Zee Cine's Queen of Hearts in 2002 and IIFA's Style Diva of the Year in 2004. During the same year, she received the "Celebrity Style (Female)" at the Bollywood Fashion Awards whilst two years later she was awarded the "Most Glamorous Actress of the Year" at the Tuscan Verve Zoom Glam Awards. In 2009, Kapoor was among five actresses who received a nomination as "Star of the Decade – Female" at the tenth annual IIFA Awards. Apart from acting awards, Kapoor has also been the recipient of several achievement honors by various organization groups. During 2009, she received the "Vocational Excellence Award" by the Rotary International club for being the youngest achiever in the film industry and was also awarded the "India Today Woman Award" for her contribution to the world of art and cinema.
