List of Amanita Species

The following is a list of some notable species of the agaric genus Amanita. This genus contains over 500 named species and varieties, so the list is far from exhaustive. The list follows the classification of subgenera and sections of Amanita outline by Corner and Bas (1962) and Bas (1969), as used by Tulloss (2007). Bolding of the species name and an asterisk (*) following indicates the species is the type species of that section, with a double asterisk (**) indicating the type species of the entire genus. Use of common names follows Tulloss (2007), Holden (2003), Arora (1986), and Lincoff (1981).

Famous quotes containing the words list of, list and/or species:

Modern tourist guides have helped raised tourist expectations. And they have provided the natives—from Kaiser Wilhelm down to the villagers of Chichacestenango—with a detailed and itemized list of what is expected of them and when. These are the up-to- date scripts for actors on the tourists’ stage.
    Daniel J. Boorstin (b. 1914)

    Lovers, forget your love,
And list to the love of these,
    She a window flower,
    And he a winter breeze.
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)

For my own part I think no innocent species of wit or pleasantry should be suppressed: and that a good pun may be admitted among the smaller excellencies of lively conversation.
    James Boswell (1740–1795)
