Limerick Leader

The Limerick Leader is a weekly local newspaper in Limerick, Ireland. It was founded in 1889. The newspaper is headquartered on O'Connell Street.

It had an average weekly circulation of 23,868 for the second half of 2005, according to the Audit Bureau of Circulations. The paper currently is distributed in two editions, City and County, with the selection of content differing between the two. Generally some shops in and around the city sell both editions.

The main competition for the newspaper is the freely distributed Limerick Post.

The Limerick Leader is owned by Limerick Leader Ltd a holding company of Johnston Press and who own thirty-seven titles across Ireland.

Since the take over by the Johnston Press, the Limerick Leader has pursued a more "tabloid" agenda concentrating on headlines designed to shock and veering away from the more traditionally "Limerick Pride" Agenda for which the paper was known over the years.
